Rivers: Khana council to collaborate with neigbouring LGAs to combat insecurity

As part of moves to foster peace and put an end to insecurity in Khana Local Government of Rivers State, chairman of the council, Dr. Bariere Thomas has expressed his readiness to partner with neighbouring LGAs to combat crime and insecurity.

Thomas stated this on Thursday  when he accompanied his Andoni council counterpart Barr. Erastus Awortu to Kaa Community to visit Andoni indigenes  that were displaced from their homes as a result of cult related activities and now temporarily taking refuge in Khana.

The Khana Council boss further stressed that “we have noticed that young men whose birth were so celebrated, who were supposed to be the pride of their parents and their fatherland have decided to unleash terror on their people. As leaders who were elected and saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the safety and security of our people, it is imperative to warn young people from Khana and other neighbouring LGAs that perpetrate evil and run to Andoni, Okrika, Port Harcourt, Oyigbo and other areas to seek refuge, that as a government, we are going to establish a working relationship with our neighbouring LGAs such that perpetrators of crime are brought to book no matter where they reside”.

Responding, his Andoni Council couterpart, Erastus Awortu expressed profound gratitude to the people of Khana and  particularly  Kaa community for accommodating his people, and for giving them hope that there is still life even in difficulties.

He stressed that his administration is out to combat the insecurity issues in his domain, which will make his people return home soon.

Awortu, assured the people of Khana, that the Andoni Council will work in synergy with the new administration to foster peace in their respective domain.
