A fire incident which occurred in Buguma, Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State on Saturday has left a 59-year-old woman dead.

Name of the woman could not be immediately ascertained at the time of this report.

A number of persons have also been rendered homeless with properties worth millions of naira destroyed by the inferno.

It was gathered that the fire outbreak was caused by illegally refined petroleum products, precisely Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) also known as Kpofire which was stored in the compound.

A community source said more harm would have been done but for the timely and proactive intervention of  youths of the area.

He directed that all such products currently stored in any living quarters in the council should be moved out with immediate effect as defaulters would be made to face the law.
