A yet to be identified 400-level mechanical engineering student was Thursday morning shot dead at the Rivers State University.
Reports say the student was eating at the Faculty of Management Sciences restaurant when he was shot in the head.
The police arrested the assailant after he attempted to escape from the scene but was held by campus security.
An ambulance later arrived at the scene to evacuate the corpse.
Although the management of the school are yet to react to the incident, some eyewitnesses are alleging cult rivalry to e responsible for the incident.
