Traditional ruler, retired teacher found in shallow grave in Rivers community

The corpses of one Nubari Ifaah, said to be a retired teacher and Chief Ideebom of Tego Village in Kono Bo-ue Community, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have been found  in a shallow grave in the area.

Both men we gathered had been declared missing after Monday’s deadly cultists’ attack which left behind six corpses in it’s trail in both Kono Bo-ue, Luawii and Gwara axis of the area

The  latest discovery brings the number of those killed in the attack to eight.

Comrade Golden Nwibakpo, Public Relations Officer, Community Development Committee of Kono-Boue who confirmed the latest discovery lamented that Ifaah, the retired teacher was a father of four children and had no links with any cult groups operating in the area.

It was gathered that trouble started on Monday when some suspected cultists reportedly killed a man in Gwara, and two boys from Uegwere Bo-ue, a neighboring community to Kono Boue

“When the cultists were chased,” a source narrated, “they all ran to Kono Bo-ue community, and when the security agencies further intensified efforts at arresting them, they ran to a forest in their community where a kidnap victim was luckily rescued”.

The escaping hoodlums had allegedly shot at locals going about their normal activities.

While no arrest has so far been made, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command SP Nnamdi Omoni on Tuesday said the command was combing forests in the area in attempt to apprehend members of the fleeing gang.

Nwibakpo said the corpses were found during a search for missing persons in the wake of the deadly attack in his community.
