Rivers: Forgive yourselves, Andoni monarchs urge repentant cultists

The Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council in Rivers State has advised repentant cultists in the area to forgive one another and live a crime free life that represents the peaceful disposition of Obolo people.

His Majesty, King J. W. Okuruket Nnabiget – XIV , Okaan Ama Ngo of Ngo Land and Chairman Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council handed this advice while speaking with newsmen at a peace summit held in Port Harcourt as part of efforts to restore peace and calm in the local government.

The Ngo monarch further noted that although the activities of the repentant cultists are provoking, families of the victims of their erstwhile restive acts should pardon them as they have promised not to continue with their nefarious acts.

King Okuruket Nnabiget assured the youth that those who are skilled among them will be gainfully employed by the oil multinationals operating in Andoni territory as obtainable in other host communities while the unskilled ones will undergo different trainings in crafts of their choice through a collaborative funding of the Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council and the Local Government authority.

He prayed them to have confidence in the Royal father’s as they are deliberately interested in ensuring that they have a better future devoid of crime and criminality.

Earlier, Executive Chairman of Andoni Local Government Council, Hon Erastus Awortu  while addressing the youths said he has grant them conditional pardon on behalf of the Andoni people on the basis that any of them who go back to crime and criminality will be prosecuted without an option of pardon.

Awortu also told the youths that they will be taking to the Council Secretariat in Ngo Town to be reintegrated back to the society and commended them for trusting in the Peace and Reconciliation Committee Chaired by His Majesty, King Moses Abah-Ogwuile, Okaan-Ama of Unyengala Town and accepted the peace pack brokered by the traditional rulers.

The summit held after a 3-day re-orientation course to rehabilitate the former cultists and reintegrate them into the society.
