Congress: Exhaust internal mechanism, APC tell members

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Progressive Forum, Ukkasha Hamza Rahama has appealed to members of the party in Bauchi State, who are aggrieved over last Saturday’s local government Congresses, not to resort to the courts.

Rahama made the appeal while briefing journalists in Bauchi on the conduct of the congresses in the State, declaring that the exercise was a huge success not only in Bauchi State but across the country.

He noted that APC members had waited anxiously to see the party record such success, adding that the ruling party had demonstrated internal democracy as enshrined in its constitution.

“We gathered here to congratulate the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the successful conduct of local government congresses nationwide. I want to express satisfaction with the process.

“The party members waited anxiously to see this giant stride in the party’s success on its internal democracy as enshrined in the party’s constitution. This is indeed a road to success and strength upon strength ahead of 2023 general elections,” the youth forum national chairman said.

While saying that there is the likelihood of having petitions and appeals coming on the conduct of the congresses, Rahama said that, “I would like to urge all not to take it beyond party level. Our focus should be party success.”

While congratulating winners, Rahama called on those who lost not to think of their loss but rather see the victory of the party in terms of the success recorded in the conduct of the congresses.

“I urge those that won to carry everyone along because the success belongs to all and those who could not make it should not portray themselves as losers but as winners for the fact that the party is successful. I also solicit you to pick up the torchlight of courage and move forward,” he said.

He reminded party members that there is no party without internal crisis, saying that such should be expected in a party like APC which controls many states and has members of the National Assembly.

“We should tell ourselves that there is no party without crisis, especially a political party that controls many states, highest number of serving

Senators and members of the House of Representatives. This indeed is worth celebrating,” he stated.

He said that there was no need for some APC members to challenge the eligibility of the Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee of the party.
