Rivers students protest lack of amenities, teachers

Reports say students of Government Secondary School, Mbiama in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, last Friday, staged a protest over the collapse of infrastructure in the school, lack of chairs and sufficient teachers to handle their subjects.

The students, who displayed placards with various inscriptions to express their grievances, lamented that they are forced to sit on bare floors during lectures due to the absence of chairs.

Chinasa Okey, one of the students who spoke to newsmen said they decided to protest in order to get the attention of the authorities to the poor condition of learning in the school.

The principal of the school could not be reached to speak on the situation as at the time of filing this report.

The Rivers State Ministry of Education has also not reacted to this report.
