Woman bathes 9-year-old maid with hot water in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested and detained a woman, Oluchi Chinedu, who allegedly poured hot water on her 9-year-old maidservant for beating one of her children.

It was reported that the incident happened at Paradise Avenue, off St. Michael Street, Iwofe in Port Harcourt.

In a statement, spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni, said the woman is currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Omoni assured that the matter will not be compromised, and that justice shall be served.

The suspect, was arrested after her neighbours at intervened in the matter.

Chairman of the Estate, Sam Ikem, in a chat with journalists described the incident as attempted murder.

He said the woman, after bathing the girl with hot water, physically assaulted her for more than four days.

Ikem who called on the relevant authorities to adequately investigate the matter and ensure that the accused faces the wrath of the law, also accused her of previously using hot knife on the little girl.
