Ex-Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari has mourned the death of Sagir Hamida, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in 2019.
Hamida was murdered on Sunday when bandits laid a siege to the Abuja-Kaduna road.
The assailants took positions near the damaged portion as vehicles moved on a single lane.
An unspecified number of persons were kidnapped during the attack that occurred between 2 and 4 p.m
On Monday, Publicity Committee Chairman of the Yari-led APC faction, Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji described Hamida’s death as a loss to Nigeria.
Birnin-Magaji’s statement noted that he contributed immensely to the development of humanity.
“Sagir Hamida left a great position that is difficult to fill, considering his contributions to the unity in APC under the leadership of former Gov. Yari.”
The spokesman extended condolences to the immediate family and the people of Zamfara.
“May Almighty Allah grant Aljannatul Firdausi to Sagir Hamida and forgive his shortcomings and give his family the fortitude to bear the lost”, he said.
The funeral has been scheduled for Monday afternoon at Annur Jumu’at Mosque in Wuse 2, Abuja.
Hamida was formerly Director of Protocol in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The deceased was the proprietor of FAMAKS British Schools in Kaduna and Abuja.
