Man escapes death as container falls on car in Rivers

A yet to be named driver escaped death in Port Harcourt on Tuesday as a container with packed food items fell on his Toyota Rav4.

The incident which occurred along the NTA-Mgbuogba Road axis of the city was allegedly caused by operatives of the Rivers State Taskforce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor Park after they tried to remove the container from the haulage truck for alleged wrongful parking.

Eyewitnesses said the operatives took to their heels after the container fell on the car.

The driver was subsequently rescued and rushed to the hospital by passersby after spending about three hours under the container.

Also, it was reported that hoodlums and residents of the area looted the packed foods in the truck.
