Power Commission solicits electricity coy’s cooperation in revenue remittances

The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission has solicited the cooperation of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc in accessing revenue due to it.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Nura Wakili, Head, Press and Public Affairs of the commission in Abuja.

According to the statement, the Managing Director of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, made the appeal when he led a delegation on a visit to the NBET.

Yelwa said NBET’s support was needed in addressing grey areas affecting remittances of revenue due to the commission and described the organisation as a critical stakeholder in the commission’s drive to deliver on its mandate.

He reiterated the commission’s readiness to work with relevant agencies to improve living standard of communities affected by operations of hydroelectric dams.

NBET’s Managing Director, Dr Nnaemeka Ewelukwa, said the organisation and the commission should work together to deliver on their respective mandates.

Ewelukwa noted that the responsibilities placed on the commission had direct bearing on the hydroelectric dams’ host communities.

He said that the expectations of stakeholders from the commission required that it should be able to access all funds due to it to enable it function properly.

Ewelukwa said the NBET was consulting with relevant agencies and stakeholders to organise a consultative meeting to address issues in the interest of all parties for the common good of Nigerians
