Rivers govt takes over prosecution of Pastor accused of murder

The Rivers State Government has now taken over the prosecution of one Pastor Chidiebere Okoroafor the founder of Altar of Solution Church in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state who allegedly murdered three persons in his church including his Choir Mistress, Olunna Nwagba.

Nwagba was said to have been pregnant for the pastor before she was allegedly murdered.

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command had on 17th of December, 2017 arrested the pastor after the husband of one of the victims, Chigozie Ezenwa raised an alarm over her whereabouts and that of her daughter Christabel Ezenwa.

The police had paraded the suspect and subsequently arraigned him in court before the state government, through  the Ministry of Justice decided to take over the matter.

When the matter came up for cross-examination in court, one of the Investigative Police Officers, Inspector Dan Promise told the court that they found the dead bodies of the victims in different locations within Eberi in Afam area of Oyigbo.

Trial Judge, Justice S.O Benson after the cross-examination on Friday, adjourned till 25th and 31st January 2022 for the continuation of cross-examination of witnesses.

Speaking outside the courtroom, the husband to one of the victims, accused the defence counsel of deliberately delaying the matter.

He called on the general public to help him ensure speedy prosecution of the matter.
