Former member representing Rivers South East at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has assured members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State that the party will retain power at the centre come 2023 and also win Rivers State.

Abe, who spoke Sunday, at Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area during the inauguration of the Rivers Voice of Freedom (RVF) in the area, also assured that the party in the state would soon overcome all its challenges.

RVF is a political pressure group in Rivers APC loyal to Senator Abe.

Abe said: “For us as All Progressives Congress to overcome all the naysayers and doomsayers about the problems in our party, we must do what is right and don’t be afraid, we will not only do what is right, the party will overcome all its adversaries and by the grace of God, APC will retain the federal and the state, so wherever you are and in whatever you are doing be resolute”.

He remarked further that: “being governor is not really about me, but about Rivers people and what they truly want. It is about doing the right thing, upholding truth and justice and as long as you stand with me, I will remain standing and nobody can stop us.”

Also speaking, Senator Wilson Ake said Abe is the most deserving and widely accepted among electorates in the state to be governor in 2023.

The former federal lawmaker dismissed the antagonism against Abe by the Minister of Transport, chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s faction of the Rivers APC, stating that the people now understand that Abe has done no wrong to be denied Rivers governorship ticket.

“It is for the good of Rivers state that the people cannot be deceived anymore. They now know Abe has done no wrong. And by popular consent, we are looking at the next Governor of Rivers state. The massive support he is enjoying even out of public office explains it all,” he noted.

On his part, Chief Tony Okocha, a former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House said Abe is a good product.

“When you have a good product, you don’t struggle to sell and you can see that he is sellable such that even in the slightest notice people can come out to hear him and that is the product Rivers State need to take us to our promise land,” Okocha said.

Speaking on the sideline of the event, President-General of RVF, Dominic Dumekpigi while   said the turnout of people showed that they are ready to receive the message of peace, unity and freedom which the organisation preaches.

He stated: “We are here in ONELGA to tell them that Rivers people are moving forward for emancipation from the dark part where god-fatherism had been the thing of the game. We cannot afford to be in a party where a single man will decide the future of the people, we want the people to know that we have identified a man that will transform Rivers State and make a difference in the political scheme of the state and that man is Senator Magnus Abe.”
