Three persons suspected to be fake health workers have been apprehended in Asarama community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The impersonating medical practitioners, who comprise two male posing as doctors and a female posing as a nurse, were arrested, following a tip-off by Head of Medical Personnel in the area.
The suspects were identified as Gift Harvest, who claim to be an auxiliary nurse, Dr. Patrick Effiong, an unqualified health assistant and Williams Biranwi, who claim to be an auxiliary nurse.
Chairman of Andoni Council, Erastus Charles Awortu who confirmed the development, disclosed that the suspects were on illegal medical mission to Andoni without proof of qualifications.
He further revealed that the medical quacks had even performed surgeries on some unsuspecting victims before they were caught.
The council boss while condemning the act, said the three suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation with a view to uncovering their true intention.
Awortu also called on the people of Andoni to be vigilant as criminals seeking to exploit the unsuspecting public can go to any length including endangering the lives of people to achieve their illegitimate and awful intentions.
