Rivers 2023: Students canvass support for Abe

By: Felix Ikpotor

Following the declaration by Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to run for the office of governor of Rivers State in the 2023 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, students in the state are now canvassing  support for the actualisation of the former lawmaker’s ambition.

The students under the auspices of Progressives Students Network (PSN) said only Abe has the capacity to remedy the plethora of challenges facing the students community in the state.

President- General of PSN, Comrade Endwell   Otonnah who stated this at the inauguration of the  Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) chapter of the group said they have looked at his track records and accepted that he is the most competent for the Brick House in 2023.

He said, “Abe’s declaration is a hope to the student community. I’m confident that he will be governor of the state”.

“The student community has suffered alot in Rivers State because we have failed to make the right decisions at the right time. I’m here to tell Rivers State students that we must be guided to make the right decision and the right choice is to come out and rally support for Abe”.

Otonnah added: “We have looked at his track records in the past and have seen how he has helped Rivers students. Please let’s rally round and give him the right support so that we can be proud that we made the right choice”.

The student leader appealed to the APC to allow the decisions of the people to determine who flies the party’s tickets in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Bethel Oko-Jaja who represented Senator Magnus Ngei Abe urged the students to vote for competence, capacity and track records of excellence in governance in 2023.

Oko-Jaja said, “You must vote according to your conviction, you must vote according to your conscience. It’s not a matter of giving you money and you just go and cast your vote for any candidate that you do not even know about”.

“We are looking at competence here, capacity, pedigree and people who have antecedents that are unparalleled in the history of governance and leadership and that’s what we have come to preach and one of the persons who possesses that quality and is eminently qualified to run for governorship of Rivers State is Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe”.

He urged the students to get involved in determining who governs them by getting their permanent voters cards (PVC) and participating actively in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
