Man arrested over attempt to bribe Navy Commandant in Rivers

One Mr Kenneth is currently being detained at the Nigeria Navy Ship  Pathfinder  in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly attempting to bribe the commandant of the pathfinder with Seven Hundred Thousand Naira.

The incident took place under the full glare of crime reporters at the navy premises in Port Harcourt.     A man

An eyewitness said, “I saw wonders yesterday evening at Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder in Port Harcourt, Rivers State when this man who gave his name as Kenneth walked boldly into the ship yard and requested to see his ceased wooden boat containing 80 drums of illegal crude oil that was arrested by the Nigerian Navy (NNS Pathfinder)”.

“boldly,he followed the officer who was asked to escort him to identify his boat, after seeing his boat, he walked back to the Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim and presented this cash sum which he said was 700,000.00(Seven Hundred Thousand Naira) allegedly as inducement or bribe to have his product & boat released to him”.

“Unknowing to him, the navy commander had just returned few minutes before his arrival with few journalists from the high sea for an on the spot media coverage of an illegal oil operation site that the navy dealt a blow at Degema LGA of the state, hence the press crew were on standby watching from a distance with cameras rolling from take off to finish”.

“Upon  realising that the media were on ground doing their job, behold, he changed the narrative that the boat is that of a friend whom he claimed had come to intervened on his behalf”.
