Banigo lauds MWAN on achievements

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has commended the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) for their contribution towards health care delivery in the State and the nation.

Banigo made the commendation while playing host to a delegation of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria led by its National President, Dr. Lilian Otolorin at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Banigo said that since she came on board as the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, MWAN has continued to work closely with her office, adding that she was pleased with the outcome so far, but said they still have  a lot to do together.

“I can see that we still have quite a lot of things to do, amongst our doctors, we really need to mentor our junior doctors very well, especially the females.

They need a lot of mentoring from us they need a lot of support, they need a lot of strengthening, so we need to do a lot more of that, like you said the attitudinal ones the ethos, and those soft skills that shine then out and make them distinguished in their positions and their careers are very key.” Banigo stressed.

The Deputy Governor, who insisted that Nigerian doctors were the best anywhere, said that some doctors leave the country with the hope of getting greener pastures abroad but end up regretting.

She expressed gratitude to MWAN for coming to the State for their NEC Meeting and for choosing Rivers State as their next National Secretariat in 2023, while assuring them of best treatment.
