Candidate of the Labour Party for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Dr. Douglas Fabeke has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, to fully enforce the installation of speed limiting devices on all vehicles especially those plying the highways.
Fabeke made the call while sympathizing with the leadership of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the death of a member of the party who died in a ghastly car accident while returning from Abuja, the venue of the APC Presidential Primary.
Port Harcourt Spectator had earlier reported that the victim, Onimiteim Vincent Samuel who was the secretary of the party in Akuku-Toru local council of the state died after a Toyota Sienna conveying Rivers APC members from Abuja to Port Harcourt somersaulted.
It was also reported that five of the seven occupants are currently receiving treatment.
Fabeke in a statement described the accident as unfortunate .
He said, ” I was sad when I heard the news because we are Rivers people before belonging to various political parties”.
“It is said that a life of a vibrant Rivers person was cut short and many others were in the hospital”.
The Labour Party candidate for South-East Senatorial district, further advised motorists against over speeding.
