2023: Rivers youths will not support any candidate with record of financial rascality -Bani

By: Chetachi Ifeme

Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State chapter Comrade Nwisabari Bani has said that come 2023, the youths will not vote for any candidate with financial rascality or persons that have not proven themselves free from  every financial strangulation.

He stated this during an interview with our correspondent while reacting to a rally organised by some youths perceived to be members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) under the leadership of Comrade Chijoke Ihunwo who matched on the streets of Port Harcourt  in support of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  gubernatorial candidate, Siminialayi Fubara.

Bani noted that, “the information available to us is that it is not about the youth council, the persons that went on the street yesterday is a faction of the PDP youth leadership that came out because of the crisis in their party to support a particular candidate for governorship”

” If for any reason we want to support a candidate, the person have to come and tell us what they have to offer. It is not just at the mention of an imposed candidate the youth will run.”

Bani denied that those who came out for the rally were members his council and cautioned against dragging the name of the council into politics.

“If any member of a political party is doing a thing we don’t have any issue but our concern is to drag the hallowed name of the organisation to the mud,” he stated.

The Rivers youth leader also observed that since politicking has taken centre stage, politicians will begin to give money  to people to buy their votes.

“You are free to collect the money because it is our common wealth, they never had their personal money other than the money they got from leadership so collect the money but let the will of the people which is our own desire stand,” he advised.
