Flag-Amachree reacts as Dawari, Atiyegoba dump Rivers APC

A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojukaye Flag-Amachree has deep sadness over the resignation of his kinsman and former governorship aspirant, Dr Dawari George from the party.

He stated this in a statement he personally signed.

George’s resignation followed the gale of resignations that have hit the party in the last two days.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that shortly after the former house of representative member tendered his resignation, chairman of the party in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the state, Millerye Boma Atiyegoba also resigned.

Earlier, other bigwigs in the party such as Golden Ngozi Chioma,   Marvin Yorbana and Celestine Akpobari had all resigned their membership of the party.

Flag-Amachree’s statement reads:

“I woke up this morning with news of the regretful resignation of Dr Dawari I George from the APC.

Well-meaning members of the APC from Asari-Toru, the Kalabari ethnic nationality and Rivers state know Dr Dawari as a brilliant and committed fellow within the leadership cadre of the APC family.

I deeply hold Dr Dawari in high esteem because of his seasoned contributions to our great party, hence I would not fault his resolve to quit.

Nonetheless, I must reassure the APC family in Asari-Toru, the Kalabari people and everyone in Rivers State that – our family is rock-solid. My belief in APC is unshaken, I make this commitment that in the coming days, I will make sure the APC grows stronger in Rivers State; thus, all our members should remain calm.

I promise that, as we look forward, we shall as a family celebrate victory in the forthcoming 2023 Elections”.
