By: Felix Ikpotor

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  in Rivers State and former member of the House of Representatives, Elder Chidi Wihioka, has resigned his membership of the party.

His resignation came barely 24 hours after a former acting former informstion commissioner in the state and strong ally of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Dame Ibim Semenitari, resigned from the party.

Wihioka, a strong supporter of Senator Magnus Abe, represented the Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

The former federal lawmaker in a letter addressed to the APC chairman in his ward (Elele Ward 3) in Rivers State said his decision for quitting the party was due to the high-handedness of one man.

The statement read in part, “I wish to officially inform you of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“My decision was taken based on the high-handedness of one man who thinks and believes that he owns the party in Rivers State and his refusal to allow peace (to) reign in the party by giving everyone in the party equal level playing ground”.

He however stated that his resignation will not affect his support for the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

He also promised to announce his next party when he finds a suitable one.

His resignation the exit of the party by other bigwigs such as Dr Dawari George, Barrister Golden Ngozi Chioma amongst others.
