21 cows shot dead in Rivers

No fewer than 21 cows have been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in Odogwa community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Chairman of the Miyehti Allah Cattle Rearers Association in Rivers State, Mohammed Abubakar who disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt, expressed shock at the incident.

He said at about 9:00pm on Wednesday last week, the cattle rearers had gone into the town to get some beverages when the gunmen attacked the cows killing 21 with 15 already pregnant.

Leader of Odogwa community, one Samuel Odum couldn’t be immediately reached for comments.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Northern community in Rivers State Alhaji Musa Saidu has sued for peace.

Saidu while speaking with journalists called for thorough investigation into the matter and compensation for the owners of the cows.
