Over $400m worth of investments strangled by Wike – Tonye Cole

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole has expressed commitment to ensuring that every part of the state feels the impact of his administration if elected in 2023.

Cole, who was a guest on a radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt, said that with his years of experience in tackling issues globally, his administration would proffer solutions to challenges plaguing various sectors in the Rivers economy including health, entrepreneurship and education.

Citing impacts made during the global citizens’ conference, Cole said he was part of the team that ensured that an intervention was brought to Nigeria, particularly in Rivers State.

He said with these ideas, he would ensure that funds is pumped into the Rivers economy, leading to the expansion of different sectors in the state.

Speaking on investment plans to grow the state economy, Cole said the current government has frustrated investment plans, noting that the investments he made in the state, which he said is worth over four hundred million dollars, has been on lock down.

Reacting to the case with the State government, he said, ” first and foremost, the truth is that it is a very political issue, and I’ve always said over and over again and anyone is willing to check, that these documents are public. There is absolutely no money that was missing; every money that was paid into government account. Not half a cent, not half a naira, not half a kobo is missing anywhere, and the government knows it.”

When asked about the mass resignation of members from the APC where the likes of Magnus Abe, Dawari George, Chris Finebone, Tonye Princewill among others decamped to other political parties, the guber candidate said the party is now stronger than it was, given the defections, which he tagged as “a consolidation.”

Speaking further, he said if given the opportunity, his administration would see to workers’ welfare in the state, and ensure that youths are empowered, among others.
