…As group pledges loyalty
The Accord Governorship candidate in Rivers State , Dumo Lulu-Briggs has frowned at the decision of the Rivers State University management to bar students from writing their examinations over fees.
He also condemned the donation of 300 million naira to wives of Lagos State government officials by Governor Nyesom Wike last week.
Lulu-Briggs while speaking with journalists shortly after the payment of school fees of 32 undergraduates of the Rivers State University affected by the No School Fees, No Examination Policy, alleged that the imprudence of the Rivers State Governor is disturbing.
He said Rivers State Government despite donating huge sums of money to richer states was insensitive to the sufferings of Rivers People.
The guber candidate said, “our young ones are struggling to raise money to pay their school fees because their whole education and future is on the line and this is happening at a time when our government is donating huge sums of money across states.”
He condemned the No School fees, No Examination Policy, “in the face of harrowing poverty in the land,” arguing that students shouldn’t be stopped from writing examination.
The Accord Governorship flagbearer revealed that his organisation has paid the fess of 32 students and have received a list of another set of 200 students whose fees will be paid before the end of the week.
He said: “yesterday we paid the fees of about thirty something students which was done through NURSS and today they have compiled a list of 200 student and hopefully, by today we will address it.”
Meanwhile, a socio-political group, Rivers Divine Project has pledged to give its support to the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord, Dumo Lulu- Briggs.
The group, made up of past governorship, local government chairmen and assembly candidates from various political parties in Rivers State said the election in 2023 should be important to every Rivers man following sufferings of the people.
Public Relations Officer of the group, Peter Aloysius, while briefing newsmen at the Accord State Secretariat, said the present condition of the state calls for mass interest in the politics of the state and the desire to enthrone responsible leadership.
He said, “it is therefore premised on the wishes and fear of all Rivers people who want the general good for our state through good governance that we anchor. It is obvious that the 2023 election cannot be won through wishes, concerns and fears, rather through participation and we have found just one man who can allay our fears and make our wishes come through and that man is Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.”
