Authorities of the Rivers State University, RSU, has issued a new dress code for students.
The new dress code was contained in a memo from the Registrar/Secretary to Senate, Dr. Sydney. Enyindah, and addressed to the President of Student Union Government of the school and all students.
The directive placed a ban on colouring of hair by both male and female students; wearing of earrings by male students and nose rings by female students; as well as tattoos by both male and female students.
Female students have also been banned from wearing ankle chains, long eyelashes, spaghetti gowns, and short skirts above the knees.
The directive further compelled both sets of students to refrain from wearing bedroom slippers or bum shorts, and also donning tattered jeans and sagging their trousers.
The memo titled, “Ban on Indecent Dressing by Students on Campus” is sequel to the memo presented by the Committee of Provost and Deans and considered by the Senate at its 291st Regular Meeting in September.
