Suspected political thugs attack supporters of Atiku in Rivers

Supporters of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar on Sunday, escaped death after they were attacked with guns and machetes by suspected political thugs while hanging posters of the PDP candidate in Omuma local council of Rivers State.

The incident was contained in a video which went viral on the internet yesterday.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, Solomon Lenu who condemned incident in a statement and also accused Governor Nyesom Wike of being the attack.

He described the incident as painful, noting that it is giving people a gory deep into what next year’s election in the state would look like under the dictates of  Wike.

His statement reads:

“Gov Nyesom Wike Made Good His Threat Against Atiku Supporters In Rivers State.

“The attempted manslaughter in the video below happened in Omuma LGA in Rivers state, where the victims were posting campaign posters of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and was attacked with machete by the Governor’s hirelings”.

“This is painful, because it is giving us a gory peep into what 2023 election in Rivers state would look like under the dictates of the incumbent Governor, who is currently at war with the PDP presidential candidate”.

Also, spokesperson of the Atiku campaign organization in Rivers State, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa condemned the incident.
