APC Reps member, assembly candidate defect to PDP in Rivers

More defections have hit the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State.

This is even as the member representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency, Chief Ephraim Nwuzi, has defected back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that Chief Ephraim Nwuzi contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections and won a seat at the Federal House of Representatives.

In August 2020, he dumped the state’s ruling party, PDP and joined the APC.

He contested for re-election to the National Assembly but was arrested few days to the election after a threat video of him went viral. He was subsequently arraigned and sent to the correctional centre awaiting further trial.

While in detention, he lost the election conducted in  February 25th  2023, to Kelechi Nwogu of the PDP.

Nwuzi’s defection was made public yesterday when a video started circulating on the internet showing the federal lawmaker at the residence of Governor Nyesom Wike.

He was received back to the party by Nyesom Wike and other lawmakers in the state at the residence of the governor.

His defection comes barely 24 hours after Alex Wele who contested under the APC for Obio/Akpor State Constituency 1, defected to the PDP.
