Police arrest 2 child traffickers, rescue 6 pregnant women from baby factory

The Rivers State Police command has arrested two suspected child traffickers Akundo Ifeanyi and Mercy Ade aged thirty eight and thirty seven years respectively and rescued six teenage pregnant girls from a baby factory in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed the raid of the illegal baby factory by the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit.

Parading the suspects on Wednesday, one of the suspects Akundo Ifeanyi said they pay the pregnant girls between three hundred thousand, four hundred thousand and six hundred naira depending on the month of the pregnancy.

She confess to sell the babies between one million to one Million, five hundred thousand upon the delivery of the babies depending on the sex.

One of the rescued victims told Journalists that they were impregnated by their male lovers but went to the home since they don’t have who to take care of them.

Meanwhile the Commissioner for Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, has vowed to smoke out criminals in the state while declaring total war on cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers etc.
