The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a robbery attack at the Rivers State University.
It was reported that unknown gunmen attacked a female hostel in the school Wednesday night, raping and robbing students of their valuables.
The situation led to a protest by the students on campus Thursday morning where the blocked the main entrance into the school.
It was also learnt that the robbery attack lasted for almost one hour without any interference.
Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko the Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka has directed the DC Operations, Area Commander, Port Harcourt, and the DPO Nkpolu to provide adequate security on the campus.
The statement also called for vigilance and urged students, parents, and the school management to take advantage of the Police Control Room numbers to report suspicious activities: 08032003514 and 08098880134.
