IGP emphasizes role of leadership, public relations, ethical communication in trust-building

The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has emphasized the importance of visionary leadership, effective public relations, and ethical communication in building trust and transparency between institutions and the public.

He also highlighted the potential of creating value in leadership and public relations while calling on all stakeholders in nation-building to embody these ideals necessary for enhancing individual well-being and that of society as a whole.

The IGP made this call in a goodwill message to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) at its 2023 Annual General Meeting and Conference held on Thursday 24th August 2023, at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja.

The IGP was represented by the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Department of Logistics and Supply, DIG Frank Mba, a former Force Public Relations Officer, and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Furthermore, the IGP underscored the NPF’s dedication to collaborating with the NIPR. He highlighted the importance of having NIPR members appointed to public relations roles within the police force while noting that the NPF boasts a substantial membership within the NIPR, with over 200 members, the majority of whom are part of the public relations department, while others have moved on to other roles.

The Inspector-General of Police reiterated the steadfast commitment of the NPF to establishing a formidable reputation for the Force – one that is recognized for its people-friendly approach and unwavering commitment to upholding human rights while providing service excellence.
