Fabeke condemns gruesome murder of Rivers DPO

President of the Ogoni Liberation Initiative and African Coordinator of the United Mission for Rural and Urban African Community Empowerment, Dr. Douglas Fabeke, has condemned the gruesome murder of Ahoada East Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, who was gruesomely murdered and mutilated by some hardened armed criminals in the Ahoada area of Rivers State on Friday, September 8, 2023, while on operation in the area.

Dr. Fabeke, in a statement, expressed shock over the brutal murder of the DPO and called on the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, to take drastic steps to ensure this issue is addressed without political interference in order to reassure security operatives in the local government areas of their safety and enable them to have confidence in the present administration in the state.

“We want a government that will eradicate insecurity so that the state can be safe for investors and businesses to strive”. Therefore, Gov. Siminialayi Fubara should ensure the miscreants are brought to book, he said.

“Having suspended His Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, I think the leadership of the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Ben Eke, and his chief security officer have a question to answer as no criminal can operate in a local government without the knowledge of the council”, Fabeke said.

Dr. Fabeke further commended the four LGA chairmen that made up the Ogoni Kingdom and the entire Ogoni people on how they supported and partnered with the late DPO to fight crime during his four years of service in Ogoni Land without any form of injury to him or his men.

He recalled that the late DPO was responsible for restoring peace in Khana communities and, by extension, Ogoniland.

He ensured that all deserted villages in Ogoniland were safe from violence and crime, causing the residents to return home.

He also won plaudits and chieftaincy titles from organisations, community leaders, and student associations for resolving insecurity and crimes in Ogoniland.

“I hereby extend my deepest condolences to the family of SP Bako Angbashim and the State Police Command for this irreparable loss,” Dr. Fabeke said.
