University of Port Harcourt have promoted 43 senior lecturers to the rank of professor.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Samuel Kpenu, said 22 other senior academics were also promoted to the rank of associate professor (readers).
It stated that the promotion was sequel to the approval by the Minister of Education on Friday, December 8, 2023.
He noted that there was an earlier meeting of the Central A&PC Academic of the University of Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 23, 2023, where the newly promoted lecturers were recommended.
A breakdown of the promotion showed that the Faculty of Science got ten new professors, Faculty of Education got ten new professors, Faculty of CHS got eight new professors, Faculty of Humanities got seven new professors, while the Faculty of Agriculture got three new professors.
The Faculty of Social Science got one, Faculty of Engineering got one, Faculty of Management got one, and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies got one.
