Road block: 5 escape death in Bori, Okada riders protest

Five persons cheated death on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in Bori, Khana local government area of Rivers, when an accident occurred between a tipper and a wagon taxi.

The accident occurred on the hospital road directly opposite the Bori Divisional Police Headquarters.

Eyewitnesses blamed the accident on the road block mounted on the expressway by the police causing drivers to drive one-way.

The eyewitnesses said it was not the first time an accident would occur on that very spot.

The victims who sustained several degrees of injury were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Bori.

Brother to one of the victims, Mr. Sorle Nwiwari from Kaani-Babbe, cried out to the state government and federal officials to come to their aid, saying that his brother, who went out to look for his daily bread, has been badly injured. He frowned at the decision of the police to block the major road.

The incident we gathered triggered motorcyclists to barricade the road in protest, which prompted the police to arrest and impound their motorcycles.
