Rivers State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said it arrested 295 drug suspects in the year 2023.
NDLEA Commander in Rivers State, Mr Ahmed Mamuda, stated this while giving a rundown of some the achievements of the command in the year 2023.
He said those arrested were 237 males and 58 females.
The commander said his men also seized 562.239 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs from the suspects.
He listed substances seized from the suspects to include cocaine, heroin, hemp, methamphetamine, tramadol, codeine, Rophynol, and Pentazocine.
Mamuda stated that the command secured the conviction of 115 males and 21 females who also forfeited N1.2 million to the agency, while 47 cases were still pending.
The Rivers Ndlea boss stated also that the command successfully rehabilitated 53 drug-dependent males and had been reunited with their families while the command provided counseling and aftercare treatment for 112 male and 35 female drug users in 2023.
He said the command also conducted 118 drug abuse awareness and sensitisation programmes in the period under review.
