…Carpets Amaewhule

Following the wave of political crisis rocking Rivers State, a group known as Coalition of Rivers State Leaders of Thoughts, CORSLOT, have called on political gladiators in the crisis especially the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike to have a rethink and allow reason to prevail over personal interest.

The group also carpeted the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Chike Amaewhule for his role in the crisis rocking the state.

CORSLOT alleged that Amaewhule failed in playing a stabilisng role which his office bestowed on him.

Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Convener of the group, High Chief Sunnie Chukumele said the call has become necessary as it does not want a total breakdown of law and order in the state.

“We however, wish to cry out on the activities of political gladiators of the State origin who seem to have allowed reason to take a flight judging from their activities. Of particular note is the activities of the Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule-led House of Assembly who were recently pronounced as no longer legitimate by the court. Prior to this development, Rivers State unfortunately fell into a pitiable and regrettable situation of having two Assemblies.

“It is our opinion that Rivers State definitely would not have been in its current political shape had Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule played the sacred role posterity bestowed on him. Pitiably under him, Rivers State and indeed the world saw a legislative arm of government vehemently frustrating the executive arm with all sorts of negative actions against the governor and the executive arm of government of Rivers State.

“Had Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule seen the State as sacred, he would have mediated in whatever were the issues between our former governor, His Excellency Nyesom Wike and Sir Siminialayi Fubara but Amaewhule failed woefully to play a stabilising role which his exalted office gave him ample role to play,” Chukumele said.

He added: “We would at this juncture admonish our son, the former governor and present Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike to have a rethink on the political imbroglio in Rivers State, as it is only him on our thinking and that of most watchers that can quell the storm. Let reason prevail”.

CORSLOT advised trouble entrepreneurs and eye service politicians of the state that power belongs to God and the people, adding that Rivers people are taking note of their actions.

While thanking Governor Fubara for concentrating on human capital and infrastructural development, CORSLOT urged him to immediately appoint capable men and women into his cabinet to add value to governance in the state.

The group also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders for their efforts in resolving the political crisis rocking the state.
