Rivers youths condemn attempted detonation of explosives in Port Harcourt

A coalition of youth leaders in Rivers State under the aegis of Rivers State Ethnic Youths Leaders Coalition, RSEYLC, has condemned the attempted detonation of explosives at the Presidential Hotel axis of Port Harcourt by one Josiah Preye during a protest by loyalists of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike last week.

Chairman of RSEYLC, Dr. Legborsi Yamaabana, in a statement condemn attempts to endanger the lives of Rivers people by the group and called on the State Police Command to due thorough investigation and punish those involved in the act.

He said: “While we acknowledge that political differences are inevitable, we strongly oppose any actions that disrupt governance, halt business activities, and threaten the livelihoods of our people. We have heard the protest leaders deny any connection to the individual involved in the attempted bombing, but we must raise critical questions: What was Josiah Preye, the identified bomb detonator and victim, doing amidst the protesting crowd?  What was the barefooted young man in the video carrying in his bag?  What discussion was Hon. Martins Amaewhule having with one General Whosky in the same video?”

“We unequivocally condemn this reprehensible plot to endanger lives, create chaos, and incite panic to score political points and justify calls for a state of emergency in Rivers State. This situation exemplifies Proverbs 26:27: “Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.” Their malicious schemes have backfired, ensnaring them in their own trap.

“We call upon the Nigerian police and other security agencies to conduct a thorough and professional investigation into this incident.  The world is watching, and it is imperative that they demonstrate the highest standards of conduct. Hon. Martins Amaewhule and the protest organizers must be invited for interrogation to clarify their roles in the attempted blast.

“We also urge potential investors to disregard the disruptive actions of these detractors and recognize that Rivers State remains a safe and thriving business environment in Sub-Saharan Africa”.

The group admonished youths not to follow leaders who promptly denies them  at any given instance.
