Put teachings into practice, Kumuyi charges participants at Change Makers Conference

By: Felix Ikpotor

General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Dr Williams Kumuyi has charged participants at the Change Makers International Conference to practicalise all that has been taught during the conference in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on the sub-theme, “The Call and the Commission of the Change Maker,” Kumuyi who is the convener of the conference stated the need for participants to take responsibility by putting all that has been taught into practice as only then, they would be contributing to the desired change.

The revered cleric noted that the essence of the seven-day conference was not merely an evangelistic meeting meeting but to  teach people to be able to effect changes in their communities and around them.

“From the first day, from the women’s conference, the men’s conference, and then all the things that we’ve shared together.

“Our speakers who gave seminars, who gave goodwill messages and all the people that have spoken, they’ve given us the words, everything is coming from the background of God’s words, God’s will, God’s way and God’s wisdom.

“Now, the believer needs to understand that these meetings we have had from the first day, until today and we’re finalising is not an evangelistic meeting.

“It’s not a meeting to get people to the church or even into salvation, which may surprise you. When I, as a teacher, I go to a class to teach mathematics, I’m not teaching mathematics to make them take a decision of Christ, I’m there for that important subject that will affect their well-being, that will affect getting a job, that will affect manufacturing.

“I’m teaching them so that they will have a part to play in making a change in their community. Am I outside the world? No. I’m in the world because God wants every man, every woman to know his part in subduing the world. If he’s going to do that, he needs the mathematics,” he stated.

Speaking further Kumuyi said change makers must take responsibility for the change to be realistic.

“Three things we are looking at, number one, the response and responsibility of the change maker.

“Response, everything we have learned, we need to respond, everything we have jotted down, we need to respond, everything we have said, I need to improve that area, I need to think of that area, I need go this better way, we need to respond.

“Response plus ability is what we combine together to call responsibility. I’ve heard, I’ve learned, I’ve thought about it and I’ve seen, this is the way, my response will generate responsibility and then I know as a change maker, you have response, you have responsibility to discharge,” he stated.

Our correspondent reports that the conference which began Thursday last week at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt is ending Tuesday (Today) evening.
