43rd FEPSG: Aluko satisfied with state of facilities in Rivers

President of the Federation of Public Service Games, FEPSGA, Amaebi Aluko has expressed satisfaction with facilities on ground at the various centres in Rivers State billed to host the 43rd edition of the games.

Amaebi, who spoke after being conducted round the facilities by the Co-chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, LOC, for the games, Dr Tammy Danagogo, confirmed that Rivers State is ready for the games.

“Facility visit is very crucial and this movement today is for me to personally come as the President to assess the state of readiness of the state in terms of the facilities for the fifteen events that would be hosted at the various centres, I have gone through one by one and I can confirm that the the facilities are fully ready for the events,” Amaebi said.

The federation president informed that no fewer than 10,000 athletes and officials are expected at the games tagged “Simplify Rivers Games,” while over 80 ministries, departments and agencies are expected to take part.

“About 80 MDAs would be participating in this 43rd edition. So tommorow we would go into the draws so that the fixtures would be ready so that we can commence every activity tommorow. We are expecting about 10,000 athletes, officials and dignitaries. So the ones on ground is almost about 8,000 as at yesterday and today and we still expect about 2,000 to arrive tommorow,” Amaibi added.

On his part, the Co-chairman of the LOC, Dr Tammy Danagogo said the visit was to put final touches to facilities at the various centres, adding that the state is ready for the games.

“We are here for our final assessment of the facilities and it is clear that we are good to go. I’m sure that those of you that were with us from Sharks Stadium down to the Port Harcourt Club and here, you can see that we are set and that’s the essence of the joint visit by the LOC and the president so that we can see and give the final greenlight for the games to start,” Danagogo stated.

Our correspondent reports that the team which also includes the Head of Rivers Civil Service and Chairman of LOC, Dr Felix Nwaeke, Commissioner for Youths, Dr Chisom Gbali, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Senibo Joe Johnson and others visited the Sharks Football Stadium, Port Harcourt Club and University of Port Harcourt Sports Complex.
