The Rivers State Police Command has killed a suspected notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, Nkem ThankGod, a.k.a. ‘2man,’ from Ogbologbolo Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area.
The deceased was said to a leader of the Greenlander Cult Group and responsible for a series of heinous crimes in Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Bala while parading his corpse before journalists in Port Harcourt said he was killed on Thursday, during an intelligence-led operation while attempting to carryout another kidnapping.
He said some his gang members managed to escape with injuries, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend them
CP Bala listed some the crimes committed by the slain cultist to killing the Youth President of Okogbe Community, Mr. Christmas Ede, on December 21, 2021, multiple killings in 2024, including two PMF 48 personnel, three civilians (Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki and Mrs. Abigail Victor), and a spare parts dealer after collecting ransom.
He also said the deceased was responsible for the murder of two Shell staff in Okogbe and stealing of their Toyota Hilux.
2man was also said to have carried out attacks against the police by shooting SP Bello during a rescue operation in 2022 and killing of two Rapid Response Team officers in early 2023.
The police 2man was also a know kidnapper who kidnapped and carjacked a red Toyota Camry from one Dare Shola in October 2024 and was also responsible for vandalism of oil infrastructure in the area.
Items recovered from the deceased includes two AK-47 rifles, five
magazines and twenty-two rounds of live ammunition.
The Rivers State Police Command further assured that even in this yuletide season, it is commited to protecting lives and property and will continue working to dismantle criminal networks in the state.
