Yuletide: Dike distributes palliatives to communities in Tai

… Provides walking aids to physically challenged persons

As part of the Christmas celebrations, Chairman of Tai local government area in Rivers State, Matthew Nenubari Dike, has distributed Christmas palliatives received from the state government across the 10 wards in the area.

The distribution which took place at the council’s secretariat in Saakpenwa and was received by leaders of the various wards, was supervised by the Dr. Prince Nna Joe, Chairman of the Christmas Celebration Committee.

In his remarks, Prince Nna Joe thanked God for answering the prayers of Rivers State indigenes by granting them a governor like Sir Siminialayi Joseph Fubara, who considered the season as a time to show goodwill and has given gifts to the people.

Port Harcourt Spectator reports that Governor Fubara had approved the distribution of rice to all the 23 LGAs of the state with Tai receiving a total of 1000 bags of rice which were shared across the 10 wards along with cows, cash, and other items.

Recall that the council had earlier celebrated with the elderly where gifts items and cash were also presented to them, followed by the Children’s party where the council chairman also showed his benevolence and care for people of his council.

The chairman in the spirit of yuletide equally fete widows from across the council area while same gesture was extended to security agencies and staffers of the council including non-indigenes resident in the area.

Secretary of the council, Leyii Ledogo Gininwa, highlighted the council’s commitment to the welfare of the people since the administration commenced, noting that the provisions is to show the administration’s goodwill to the people, in addition to the Governor’s efforts.

He reiterated the administration’s dedication to the betterment of the area and prayed for success of Dike’s tenure.

Also speaking, Chief of Staff of the council, Cat. Anthony Gbaawa, praised the Council Chairman for his exceptional performance within a short time of being in office, citing initiatives such as covering electricity bills and enrolling 5000 individuals in the Health Insurance Scheme amongst others.

He commended the chairman for prioritizing the development of Tai People.

Meanwhile, Mathew Dike last weekend also celebrated with the physically challenged in the council area by distributing food items, wheelchairs, crutches, cash, and other support materials to them.

Over 1000 physically challenged persons from the area benefitted from the gesture.
