The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has called for thorough investigation into the attack on the Managing Director/Chief Executive Director of the Rivers State Cassava Project Limited Mr. Gibson Reuben at Okulu bridge Aleto in Eleme local government area of the state.
Reuben, an expatriate from the Netherlands was Monday night, ambushed by suspected kidnappers near the bridge which made his Hilux vehicle to veer off the river and plunging into the sea causing his death.
Fortunately, the Mobile Police personnel attached to Reuben managed to escape, while the Hilux vehicle and the deceased were submerged in the water.
A statement by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said a search party led by the Command’s Marine Unit recovered the lifeless body of the expatriate and the White coloured Toyota Hilux.
The statement said CP Olugbenga Adepoju who visited the area and accompanied by the Chairman of Eleme LGA , Brain Gokpa, Area Commander Eleme, DPOs within the Eleme Area Command and tactical teams of the command, condemned the attack as “very barbaric” and ordered a full scale investigation with immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
