Wike Fighting Rivers People Not Fubara- Ankio Briggs Alleges

By : Queen Williams

Renowned environmentalist and Human Rights Activist, Annkio Briggs, has issued a passionate plea to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to put an end to his prolonged feud with the suspended governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara.

In an exclusive interview, Briggs expressed deep concern that the ongoing crisis is having a devastating impact on the people of Rivers, who are caught in the middle of the political scuffle.

“Who is he fighting? It’s Rivers people and it’s not fair. It is most unfair,” Briggs said.

Briggs, a respected voice in the Niger Delta region, noted that she has consistently supported Wike, even when his appointment as FCT Minister was opposed by some individuals.

“I even went as far as saying that he has a right because it is even his money that built the FCT. So how else could people like me have shown support?” she asked.

The activist also emphasized that leaders should be respected, regardless of disagreements.

“Even if you don’t like his positions, you don’t have to disrespect him, he can be your grandfather, you don’t have to disrespect him,” Briggs said, stressing the importance of dignity and respect in leadership.

Furthermore, Briggs disputed the notion that Rivers State is in a state of anarchy, which President Bola Tinubu cited as the reason for declaring a State of Emergency.

“I cannot be afraid at my age now, at 70 something to tell even the president that he is wrong,” Briggs said.
