All is now set for the celebration of the 2025 Press Week by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council.
A statement jointly issued by the chapel chairman, Amaechi Okonkwo and the Organizing Committee Chairman, Elder Ignatius Chukwu, said the week-long event begins on Monday April 7, 2025 with an opening ceremony at the NBA Hall in Port Harcourt.
The statement said the week which is celebrated in partnership with Mayor of Housing has “Blue Economy: Starting Steps for Rivers State; as the main theme while the sub-theme is “Enhancing The Safety and Economic Wellbeing of Journalists in a Period of Tension and Economic Crisis.”
According to the statement, Dr. Chamberlain Peterside, Executive Chairman, Xcellon Capital Advisors is to chair the week while the Guest Speaker is Mr Ubong Essien, Dean, School of Eloquence and a former Special Assistant to the immediate past Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Other guests expected during the week are Professor Silva Opuala-Charles, President, Garden City Premier Business School, Port Harcourt and Dr Chinyere Nwoga, First Female President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (PHCCIMA).
The statement further enjoined members of the chapel, journalists in the state and friends of the chapel to attend the events.
