Rivers Plans Fresh Youths Employment, Empowerment

By: Felix Ikpotor‎‎‎The Rivers State Government has disclosed plans to launch a new round of employment and empowerment programmes for youths across the state.‎‎‎

The State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment , Dr. Chisom  Gbali, disclosed this during his maiden meeting with staff of the ministry in Port Harcourt.‎‎‎

Gbali, who was recently redeployed from the Ministry of Youth Development, urged workers in the ministry to be committed, proactive, and team-spirited, adding that the government was intensifying efforts to deliver on its youth-focused agenda.‎‎‎

He cautioned against complacency, calling on staff to stay alert and dedicated as the ministry prepares to roll out new initiatives for youths of the state.‎‎‎

“I’m not here to be idle; I’m here to work actively as a young leader, the ministry’s success depends on the collective participation and commitment of all staff, he said.‎‎‎

Gbali revealed that the ministry will start off with an internal restructuring involving the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and key officials to strengthen coordination and improve service delivery in the ministry.‎‎‎

The Commissioner mandated all Directors and Assistant Directors to submit status reports on ongoing activities to guide strategic planning and ensure seamless execution of upcoming programmes.

He emphasized  that the initiative aligns with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s directive to expand job and empowerment opportunities for Rivers youths, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic growth.‎‎‎

Gbali  announced that a capacity-building workshop has been scheduled for Tuesday next week to mark the beginning of the ministry’s new phase, focusing on youth welfare, empowerment, and development.‎‎‎

He further expressed gratitude to his team for their dedication and urged them to brace up for serious work that will make a tangible difference in the lives of young people across Rivers State.
