The Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum (ND-ENYLF) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd.) on his reappointment as the Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), describing the development as a reaffirmation of his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the national fight against drug abuse.
In a statement signed by its Spokesman, Engr. Legborsi Yamaabana, the Forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for retaining a leader whose first tenure brought renewed vigour, strengthened institutional reforms, and enhanced community engagement within the agency. These achievements, the Forum noted, have had a significant impact on young people across the Niger Delta, a region where drug abuse has long posed serious social and developmental challenges.
According to the Forum, General Marwa’s renewed mandate offers fresh hope for sustained intervention in the region, especially in vulnerable communities where preventive education and rehabilitation services are urgently needed.ND-ENYLF expressed optimism that the NDLEA, under Marwa’s leadership, will deepen community-based prevention programmes, expand rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives, and collaborate more closely with youth groups, traditional institutions, and civil society organisations across the Niger Delta.
The Forum also urged the NDLEA to strengthen transparency and data-driven accountability in its operations. The statement further emphasized the group’s readiness to partner with the NDEA to develop youth-centered anti-drug campaigns, broaden public sensitisation efforts, and create alternative pathways for at-risk young people.
“We call on all Niger Delta youths — students, young professionals, and community leaders — to embrace this development and join hands in building stronger, healthier communities,” the Forum said.
Reiterating its full support for the NDEA and its Director-General, ND-ENYLF described Marwa’s reappointment as a “well-deserved vote of confidence” and expressed hope that his continued leadership would help secure a safer, more progressive Niger Delta.
