Giolee Global Resources Limited owned by an Ogoni-born business mogul, Engr Lesi Maol has unveiled its corporate headquarts in Rivers State.
The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike at Eneka, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
Performing the unveiling, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike commended Engr. Lesi Maol who is the Managing Director of the company for his resilience in building such an edifice in Rivers State.
He noted that Maol didn’t just just built the company but also took care of the host community by supporting them with a 500KVA Transformer, paying school fees for 50 undergraduate students in tertiary institutions and providing employment opportunities to qualified sons and daughters of the community, while also paying tax to the government.
The minister acknowledged that the facilities at the corporate office meets international standards and urged the host community to give the necessary support to the company.
“Giolee Global Resources Limited is a company that meet intentional standard and I am happy with you that you did not go and establish this in Lagos or Abuja, iyou deem it fit that you have to provide this to employ our people and pay task to the government.”
“Let me commend you for what you have been doing for the host community and pray that community will take advantage of what you done, so many companies does not care about the corporate social responsibility. You said here that you have provided 500 KVA Transformers and payed school fees of 50 students, that is very commendable and then you are going to provide employment. This place will be available for students who study political science to come here for excursion and look at what it takes for construction and encourage our people. And I urge the host community to take advantage,” Wike said.
Managing Director of Giolee Global Resources Limited, Engr. Lesi Maol in his speech thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for issuing certificate of occupancy to the company two weeks to the expiration of his tenure as governor which facilitated the project.
“This is the Giolee Global Resources Ltd corporate headquarters as of today and It is important to state clearly that one of the reasons we invited the Honourable Minister of the FCT to commission this corporate office is that, two weeks to the end of his tenure as Governor of Rivers State, he issued us the Certificate of Occupancy for this land, which means its part of his legacy projects to Rivers people during his tenure as the Governor of Rivers State.
” This support aided us to put this edifice/office complex in this location and further led to the creation of jobs for the Rivers people and Nigerians. This shows his contributions to the business community in the state during his tenure as the executive Governor of Rivers State, which makes him the rightful person to commission this corporate headquarters today, ” Maol said.
Maol used the opportunity to disclose some of activities of the company which includes operating the largest mangrove nursery in the country, with about 1,000,000 mangrove seedlings currently ready for transplantation across the various project sites in the Niger Delta, donation of N200 million to 20 youths to support entrepreneurship in Ogoni and donation of 500 KVA transformer and pay school fees for 50 undergraduate students in tertiary Institution and also employment opportunities to qualified sons and daughters of the Rumuesara, Eneka host community.
“We remain committed to supporting youth entrepreneurship within our host communities. Last year, we also donated N200 million to 20 young Ogoni entrepreneurs to support the growth of their respective businesses, after solely sponsoring a business summit for them. In this same spirit, and to demonstrate our appreciation to our host community, Rumuesere in Eneka where our corporate geadquarters is sited, we will today donate a 500KVA transformer to the community. We will also pay the school fees of 50 undergraduate students from this community in tertiary institutions and provide employment opportunities to qualified sons and daughters from this same community, ” he added.
He disclosed some its activities in marine and oil/gas operations.
“We own about 50 different marine vessels, speedboats, and barges used for our operations, over 40 different pumps for oil spill response and clean-up activities, and numerous heavy-duty equipment including excavators, tractors, bulldozers, and payloaders-all fully owned by us. We are currently managing about sixteen contaminated remediation and clean-up sites, alongside numerous other environmental projects, both onshore and offshore, simultaneously for different clients, including Renaissance (formerly Shell), Agip, Oando, HYPREP, TotalEnergies and Chevron, ” Maol stated.
