Wife of the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Mrs. Grace Bariere, has praised women across the local government area for their resilience, dedication and significant contributions to the growth and development of their communities.
Mrs. Bariere made the commendation during the celebration of International Women’s Day held at the council secretariat in Bori.
The event, which attracted various women groups from the local government area, was organised under the theme “Give to Gain.”
Addressing participants, Mrs. Bariere highlighted the vital role women play in shaping families, communities and society at large. She noted that the strength, commitment and sacrifices of women continue to drive progress and stability within the local government area.
She encouraged women to remain united and supportive of programmes and initiatives that promote peace, development and social harmony in Khana, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved when individuals are willing to contribute positively to the growth of their communities.
According to her, the theme “Give to Gain” reflects the importance of service, sacrifice and collective responsibility in building a stronger and more inclusive society.
Our correspondent reported that the event also featured goodwill messages from notable stakeholders who commended the efforts of women and reiterated the need for increased participation of women in leadership, governance and economic activities.
Among those present at the celebration were the Vice Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Mrs. Nugbenekpughi Ibrahim; Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Dr. Daniel Dorka; Supervisor for Women Affairs, Rose Tonka, the clergy amongst others.
