Dearth of teachers: KAGOTE moves to rescue schools in Ogoniland

‎By: Felix Ikpotor

‎Following the worrisome decline in quality of education in the four local councils of Ogoniland, especially at the primary school levels, the apex socio-cultural organization in the area, KAGOTE has put in place motion to recruit ad-hoc teachers to man schools in the area.

‎The decision followed a report submitted earlier by its Education Intervention Committee headed by Chief Bodo Kaka-Addo wherein it stated that out of the over 100 schools visited in Ogoniland, none has complete ratio of teachers for the various subjects, adding that some schools visited had between one to three teachers administering the entire school.

‎Recall that the committee was instituted by the president of KAGOTE, Chief Lesi Maol upon his election a d inauguration as president early this year.

‎According to a notice made public by the committee’s chairman, the body is now calling for application from qualified teachers both active and retired within the four LGAs of Ogoniland to participate in the interventionist scheme.

‎The notice urged interested applicants  to submit their applications to the Committee via email at: kagoteteachersintervention@gmail.com or through the designated WhatsApp contact @ 09168155939.

‎It added: “Successful applicants under this intervention scheme will receive a monthly allowance, funded through a central intervention purse administered by the Committee and powered by the KAGOTE President, Chief Lesi Maol, with counterpart contributions from the four  Local Government Area council.

‎”This initiative represents a timely intervention aimed at salvaging primary education in Ogoni land. It is therefore a call for collective patriotism, altruism, and commitment to the sustainable development of our Ogoniland through quality education”.

‎The committee further called for support from all stakeholders and members of the public.
