2027 Rivers Guber: Iyaye Dismisses Ambition, Debunks Alleged Wike Endorsement

Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Chief Boma Iyaye, has denied reports linking him to the 2027 governorship race in Rivers State.  This is even as he has debunked  claims that he has been endorsed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

‎In a personally signed statement over the weekend, the NDDC Director described the circulating reports as misleading and a clear distortion of his position, emphasizing that he has not taken any decision regarding participation in the forthcoming governorship contest.

‎He stated that his current focus remains his responsibilities at the Commission, where he is committed to strengthening administrative efficiency, ensuring prudent financial management, and driving the effective execution of development programmes across the Niger Delta.

‎Addressing the endorsement claims, Iyaye clarified that he has neither declared any governorship ambition nor received backing from the FCT Minister or any other political figure, dismissing the reports as unfounded.

‎“He said, “My attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media suggesting that I have declared an ambition for the office of the Governor of Rivers State and have been endorsed as a preferred candidate by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON.

‎“I wish to respectfully clarify that these reports are inaccurate and do not reflect the true position. At this time, my full attention and commitment remain focused on my responsibilities as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

‎“I remain fully engaged in the discharge of my duties, working collaboratively with the leadership and stakeholders of the Commission to advance its mandate of sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.”

‎Iyaye also conveyed his respect for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, commending his leadership and contributions to governance and public service, calling on the public and media professionals to prioritise accuracy by relying on verified and credible sources, urging them to ignore unsubstantiated reports.

‎He reiterated his dedication to his current responsibilities at the Niger Delta Development Commission, affirming his commitment to working closely with the Commission’s leadership and stakeholders to drive its mandate of sustainable development across the Niger Delta region.

‎“For the avoidance of doubt, I have not made any formal declaration regarding a governorship ambition, nor have I received any endorsement from the Honourable Minister or any other individual as being suggested.

‎“I hold the Honourable Minister in high regard and deeply appreciate his leadership and contributions to public service,” he stated.
