Youth Leader Commends NDDC On Scholarship Programme, Demands More Development in Ogoniland

National President of the South South Youths Initiative (SSYI), Comrade Imeabe Saviour Oscar has commended Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for his educational initiatives especially the abroad scholarship programme for indigenes of the region.

This is as he also demanded for more presence of the NDDC in Ogoniland. ‎‎He urged that those from less privileged background should be given primary consideration in the award of the scholarship.

‎‎Oscar who is also the Global President of Ogoni  Youths Development  Initiative (OYDI), stated this while reacting to a recent visit by the NDDC MD to an Ogoni youth leader, Comrade Marcus Uebari, noting that such solidarity visit is crucial to cementing the relationship between the Commission and Ogoni youths.

‎‎‎”We are satisfied with his personality and leadership style and we belief he can restore the hope of the youths of the Niger Delta in his administration. ‎‎

“We also commend the NDDC for the ongoing oversee scholarship for indigenes of ghe Niger Delta. However, we think that any  scholarship that is done by the commission should consider  first, those people at the community level and also be based on  merit before political interests.

‎‎”We also urged  the commission to continue to champion programmes that benefits and also improve the lives of the children of the poor, ” he said. ‎‎

Oscar charged the NDDC to also attend to development issues in Ogoniland, saying: “We the South South Youth Initiative and youths from Ogoni believe in his leadership.

‎‎”We also urged that as the MD of NDDC, in as much as his presence is felt in other parts of the state, other parts of the  Niger Delta, we also want his presence to be felt by the  people in Ogoni.

‎‎” As Ogonis we appreciate him. As youths of Nigeria Delta we appreciate him and as youths of Ogoni, we appreciate this particular visit, and we pray that he should continue and be assured that with his kind of leadership, we are assuring him of not just our support as the MD of NNDC, but also  in his future endeavors. We believe that aligning with him will bring the needed development to the youths of our region. “‎
